The epikurion - History
The Temple of the Epicurion Apollo is a greek temple that was built in honour of god Apollo. Constructed around 659 B.C. the impressive monument is the work of the architect Iktinos - also the architect of the famous Akropolis. |
| During the
Peloponnesian Wars about 2.500 years ago the residents of Figalia had
been afflicted and devastated from an epidemic plague. On the run from
their homeland Figalia - an ancient kingdom with about 60.000 inhabitants
- they nourished on an unknown plant that unexpectedly healed them. In
reminiscence, the Epicurion Apollo - meaning "the healing Apoll"
was build exactly where the refugees were detecting the curing plant. The company name epikurion® represents this history. |
